Gidi Rechavi

The Rechavi group is involved in the study of "RNA epigenetics". His group pioneered the global analysis of the two most prevalent RNA modifications namely Adenosine to Inosine RNA editing and methyl 6 Adenosine RNA  methylation in the human transcriptome as well as in model organisms. Our data indicate that these global modifications that we identified, using advanced genomics, have important regulatory roles in the control of gene expression. Aberrations in these new "RNA epigenetic" modifications are implicated in common and devastating diseases such as neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders, cancer, obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
