Amos Tanay

Epigenetic dynamics and heterogeneity: How single cells define and maintain their identities within the context of a functional tissue? the Tanay group is developing computational and experimental methods to characterize the functional states of heterogeneous cell populations. Their work combines analysis of transcriptional states, chromosomal conformations, DNA methylation and other aspects of genome regulation, pushing technology toward single cell resolution. The group's ultimate goal is to use the rapid recent developments in epigenomics and single cell sequencing for realistic and practical modeling of complex processes within heterogeneous tissues in-vivo, such as in the case of exit from pluripotency or clonal expansion in tumorigenesis.
